Reservations & Booking Confirmation

Acorn Writing Retreats are intentionally kept small and thoughtfully structured in order to foster a supportive, inclusive and productive environment for all participants.

Submission of a reservation form does not guarantee a place on a retreat. All reservation requests are reviewed prior to confirmation.

If your reservation is accepted, you will receive written confirmation alongside the bespoke Retreat Handbook and payment instructions.

Acorn Writing Retreats reserves the right to decline or cancel participation where it is deemed necessary to protect the wellbeing, safety, comfort and/or group dynamic of participants, facilitators, venues and staff.

Writing Retreat Rates

Acorn Writing Retreats operates a three-tier pricing model. Writers may select the rate most appropriate to their circumstances:

• Sprout Rate: a limited, reduced rate intended for writers for whom the Standard Rate would make attending financially difficult.

• Standard Rate: reflects the full cost of sustainably delivering the retreat.

• Community Rate: includes an additional contribution that helps Acorn provide reduced-rate Sprout places and support its wider access initiatives.

The following rates apply to new reservations from the 1st of September 2026:

Three-Day Writing Retreats:
Sprout Rate: £425 | Standard Rate: £555 | Community Rate: £675

Four-Day Writing Retreats:
Sprout Rate: £550 | Standard Rate: £700 | Community Rate: £850

All rates are per person and include accommodation, meals, refreshments, structured writing programme, materials and facilitation. Travel to and from the venue, optional additional nights and any personal expenses are not included.

These rates apply to new reservations made on or after 1st September 2026. All bookings confirmed, and prices quoted, before this date will be honoured at the rate originally agreed.

Choosing Your Rate

Writers are invited to choose their rate honestly according to their personal circumstances. The Sprout Rate is not means-tested and writers will not be asked to provide financial evidence.

Sprout Rate places are limited and subject to availability. Selecting or requesting a Sprout Rate does not guarantee that one remains available. If all Sprout Rate places for a retreat have been reserved, the writer may join a waiting list, select another eligible retreat or reserve at another available rate.

All participants receive the same retreat programme and standard of hospitality regardless of the rate selected. A participant’s chosen rate will be treated confidentially.

Community Rate Contributions

The additional amount included within the Community Rates helps fund reduced-rate Sprout places and Acorn’s wider access initiatives. Contributions are used collectively and are not necessarily allocated to a particular writer, venue or retreat.

The Community Rate forms part of the total retreat fee and is subject to the same payment and cancellations terms as the other rates. It should not be described as a charitable donation and Acorn Writing Retreats cannot provide charitable tax receipts.

Price Confirmation

The applicable price is the rate quoted when the reservation is accepted by Acorn Writing Retreats. A reservation is not confirmed until Acorn has accepted the booking and received the required deposit.

Once confirmed, the price will not be changed unless the participant subsequently requests an additional service, upgraded accommodation or extended stay.

Acorn Writing Retreats may amend its published prices for future reservations. Any revised prices will not affect existing confirmed bookings.

Deposits & Balances

A £200 deposit is required to secure each booking. The deposit forms part of the total retreat fee with the remaining balance due at least 28 days before the retreat begins.

Where a booking is made fewer than 28 days before the retreat begins, the full retreat fee will be payable when the booking is confirmed.

Payment by instalments may be agreed at Acorn Writing Retreats’ discretion. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the full balance must still be received no later than 28 days before the retreat begins.
